What is Awana?
Awana is an international, Bible-centered children's ministry providing local churches with weekly clubs for children.   The goal of every Awana club component (Bible-centered handbooks, Scripture memory, team-oriented games, and more) is to help children to know, love, and serve Christ.  It's an exciting approach to teaching God's Word, combining learning with irresistible fun to produce lifelong results in children...and reaching their families, too!  Beginning in 1950 as a youth program at the North Side Gospel Center in Chicago, today Awana can be found  in more than 12,000 churches in all 50 states and can be found in 109 other countries on six continents!

What happens at an Awana club night?
Awana clubs are filled with energy, fellowship, and spiritual growth.  Each Wednesday, the Awana at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church will begin at 7:00 PM.

Game Time is comprised of exciting games exclusive to Awana, that are a popular draw for children of all ages stressing healthy competition and good sportsmanship.

Council Time is a large-group setting consisting of praise music, Bible teaching, testimonies, guest speakers, awards, and announcements.

Handbook Time provides small group fun, review and discussion of Scripture that kids learned during the week, friendship building, and opportunities for leaders to mentor children and help them understand how to apply the Bible verses they have memorized to their everyday lives.

What ages are the kids in Awana Clubs?

  • Puggles- is for 2 and 3 year olds.
  • Cubbies- must be 3 years old by September 1, 2008. Lots of fun and an introduction to God's word for preschoolers, Cubbies encourages these little ones to begin to make scripture a part of their lives through parent-child activities.
  • Sparks- must be 5 years old by September 1, 2008. Friendship building and the gospel message for K-2nd graders, Sparks teaches children about Jesus through games and introduces small peer-group interaction.
  • Truth & Training (T & T) - Evangelism and discipleship for 3rd-6th graders, T&T leads children into a deeper relationship with God and teaches them to reach out to others through mission projects.
